Bamako is the capital and largest city of Mali, West Africa and currently estimated to be the fastest growing city in Africa (6th fastest in the world). It is located on the Niger River, near the rapids that divide the Upper and Middle Niger Valleys, in the south-western part of the country. Bamako is the nation's administrative centre, with a river port located in nearby Koulikoro, and a major regional trade and conference centre. Bamako is the 7th largest West African urban centre.
The name Bamako comes from the Bambara word meaning "crocodile river”.
As in Ghana, AUMS utilise the support services of AMS Bamako office. The Bamako office is the administrative and financial base for all of the AUMS operations in Francophone West Africa. Management, accounts and administration personnel reside in the Bamako office and provide all the related support services required.
